Fun Crafts

Lately, while taking a break from Christmas cards, I've tried my hands in a few different crafts. I really enjoy making things like this because I enjoy giving these things away. It's been awhile since I posted last, so I figured this would be a good place to start :)

Here is a fry box candy holder I made for a co-workers birthday!
I've seen several people making post-it note card holders and thought they were so fun! It took me a few try's....ok, it really took several try's, but I finally got it figured out. I have to say, they turned out really cute :)
Here is a birthday card I made for a co-worker :) It was my first try at a pop-up (or stand up) card.
This was a card I made for a male co-worker. Masculine cards are honestly the hardest for me to make. I don't know why other than bling can always be added to a "girl" card to make it look good. This one brought a lot of laughs :)
Well, that's all I'm gonna post tonight. I will stay on top of this better....even though there is only like 2 or 3 people that look at this site :) HA HA.

Wow...

I got a beautiful surprise this morning...I was looking around at Melon Headz this morning to see what new creations she has come up with. :) This woman does beautiful work and it's so much fun to create using her images! So...while browsing around I found a nice surprise! One of the cards I had made using a Melon Headz images was showcased on her site Here (you'll have to scroll down a little). Thank you so much Nikki, for your beautiful work and for showing my card :)

Hair Flower Clips

So....I've always loved the look of flower hair clips. My best friend sent me over to her sister's page, Ruby Sweets and I was in awe. Her work is absolutley beautiful. I ordered a set of hair bows and won a set (from her facebook page) and when they got here, I can tell you the pictures don't do justice! After looking at them closely, I realized that it would actually be fairly easy to make the flower clips. So, I tried, and they turned out cute :) I took them to work and within about 30 minutes they were gone! I made more last night and decided I'd sell the next batch (about 10) and see if they still went as fast. They did. I only have 3 left lol. With help and advice from my wonderful husband, my fabulous best friend and her amazing sister Rhonda, at Ruby Sweets, I have decided I'm going to try and sell these (outside my office).
If these flower hair clips are something you might be interested in, please let me know. There are several different styles, colors and sizes :)

Mother's Day 2011

This year I decided to make a few gifts to those special to me, and then I'd make cards for the rest. Since my Mom is no longer living, I try and make those that are in my life and have made the biggest impact, feel just as special as I would my Mom.
My amazing Mother-in-Law has forever impacted my life! She has been the Mom that I've needed for the past 9 years. I honestly couldn't of picked a better Mother-in-Law if I would of hand-picked her myself. For Mother's Day I made her one of the message boards that I've shown a few posts down. She loved it :)
For my best friend.....This woman has been amazing! She is the best friend EVERY girl should have. She gives honest, and heartfelt advice when needed....She is always there when you need to cry, vent, or laugh! She has the best sense of humor, the biggest heart and is an amazing mother. She has shown me that no matter the struggle....to NEVER give up! She'll tell you "It's ok to make mistakes, just don't let them take control of your life", and she couldn't be more correct! I really can't explain my true feelings for her....but she knows them, I'm sure! So...for her I made a woden decor of her Mom. Her mom too has passed! I was hoping to capture her mother's beauty in this, and so I made it simple!
Here is a picture of it:

This picture show's the side view of the wooden decor. It has a stand on the back so she can set it on a bookshelf or fireplace mantle. She loved it, and that is all that matters :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Diagnosis.....

I am scared :( I've had a rash type mess on my face for about 3 or 4 weeks now. When I went in for my regular check-up my doctor indicated that she wanted to do blood work to try and see what was going on. There were several things that could be going on. I wasn't too worried at that point because I didn't know. I wasn't stressing about it. Today, the doctor called me, at work, to tell me that I have Lupus. Are you kidding me? My best friend, and her mom both have lupus. Her mom passed away from complications of lupus settling in her heart. Ugggh. Are you sure that I have it? I listened very closely to things she was telling me, and thankfully my doctor was speaking in normal people terms and not some big doctor terminology! One of the test that they had did (testing inflammation level) indicated that it was slightly elevated...which makes sense because I don't have a lot of pain in my joints. But, that may be a bad thing too because if it's attacking my organs than I probably wouldn't feel a lot of pain, right?
So....
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body). Chronic means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years. In lupus, something goes wrong with your immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and germs ("foreign invaders," like the flu). Normally our immune system produces proteins called antibodies that protect the body from these invaders. Autoimmune means your immune system cannot tell the difference between these foreign invaders and your body’s healthy tissues ("auto" means "self") and creates autoantibodies that attack and destroy healthy tissue. These autoantibodies cause inflammation, pain, and damage in various parts of the body.
Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Phone Message Board

Here is a phone message board that I made. I got the idea off the Silhouette blog. I had a lot of fun making it :) Everyone keeps telling me I need to sell these type of things but it's so hard for me. I don't feel my "stuff" is something people would buy. I wish I could get past this thinking, because I'd really like to profit some money! Let me know what you think.

Mother's Day Card

Here is a Mother's Day card I made for my wonderful Mother-In-Law. Loosing my own mom, makes this time of year, very hard. My mother-in-law has been an amazing rock in my life the past 9 years. She has taught me how to be a better, understanding mom and a wonderful (soon to be) wife :) I couldn't of picked a better mother-in-law if I would of picked her myself. I love you Toni.

Card Share Crafter....

I was "awarded" a Card Share Crafter badge from Meljens Design Team! Wow! Since I have been crafting of any sort, I haven't been awarded anything lol. I am very humbled! Honestly, I didn't think anyone really even looked at this darn blog...infact, I thought more times than not, I was only talking to myself lol.
Thank you again Meljens Design Team!

Here is the card that brought me the opportunity to win this badge:

Its a HooooT

This is an anniversary card I made for my MIL. I cut the owl's out using the Cricut.

Sympathy Card

Here is a Sympathy Card that I made for my boss.

Miss you!

This card was made for my step-daughter :) She is with her mama right now in England (mom is in the military) and what better chance for a 12 yr old to be able to experience! Most adults don't get that chance. Sure do miss her! I used a digi stamp from Bugaboo and colored it with Copics. Cut letters and heart out on Cricut.

I know a few people that are currently deployed and so I have decided to send some cards their way, so that they are able to send cards home.
Here is one of the 27 I'm sending :) I used a Bugaboo digi stamp for this card!!

Just Sittin' Here....

Here is a card that I made...I used the Vagabond Die Cut Machine by Tim Holtz to cut out the card. The chair, lamp, and table is a stamp that I stamped on patterned paper and cut out. I used puff squares to make the chair and lamp raised. Added some embellishments to add the "bling" :)
